Knowing One from the Other

Knowing One from the Other

Knowing One from the Other

I am stumbling in between them…
All that is beautiful in the world
And the depths of my insanity…
Enchanted by my own ignorance
Of not knowing one from the other…
Confused as to which one
Breathes the reality of my being
And the one embroidering
The beauty within my mind…
Do the fields of lavender
Swaying with the gentle breeze
Possess more beauty
Than the hues of indigo
Surrounding the sadness of a broken heart…
Do the rhymes of the greatest poets
Fulfill my longing more completely
Than the ancient runes
That echo in my head
From the voices
That no one else can hear…
Perhaps reality does not exist…
Except for what dwells
Within our own darkness
Lingering in the thoughts
That no one else can touch…
The truths that no one else dare to wonder…
Wandering amongst the creatures
Who shadow our perception
Of what is real…
For none of us would be who we are
Without the shadows that prowl our minds…
The one’s we share with no one…
The one’s that no one dare
Look deep enough inside our souls
To awaken…
For no one possesses the audacity to
Tempt the creatures of another…
Unless, of course…
They too are standing in the middle
Of what is beautiful
And the depths of their own insanity…
Enchanted by their own ignorance
Of not knowing one from the other…

  1. Wow I am loving that art! I see it all! I love the stars, the 33 in the middle of the cats head. I love how you blended this so perfectly! All built on the face of a black cat…brilliant! Don’t you love it when it just flows like that? I can tell you were flowing for sure! I want to say maybe I know that darkness that you write about but it’s long since healed and I bare the scars and still walk with a limp. Sure reminds me how dark things can be. I believe I’m more like the last one you mentioned…
They too are standing in the middle….Of what is beautiful… And the depths of their own insanity…Enchanted by their own ignorance…Of not knowing one from the other…
That is me! I’ve maybe always been shielded from the awful of this world that sometimes dashes away all that is free and easy about a person. I am stuck in this blissful, magical world. It is only when someone interrupts my flow do I stop and look around me. I think it’s mostly by choice that I do this. I prefer to stay in my creative zone. I don’t venture far from it at all. I have a feeling you are this way too but maybe it’s hard to tell hence…not knowing one from the other! Very good Michael. I love how that thought came full circle! Did you see that! Wow you are really good at this! Beautiful presentation all around! I had a feeling you posted…I’m starting to notice your pattern or schedule. Not that you have one but I notice a lot of things. I hope you have a beautiful weekend! It’s 5:10 here and yay I should head home but I like to linger in the silence for a little while after a long week! I hope you are doing okay I feel to ask you how you are doing! I’ve been wondering! I sent you prayers this morning, I hope the sunset I ordered arrives and you see it this evening! 😀 Haha I’m happy to share this space with you! Micki

    • Hi Micki… I think you must win an award for your wonderful observance. You are the very first to comment about the 33 placed in my photos. I don’t know if there have been others that have noticed or not but YOU did and it put a smile on my face… again. You’ve gotten really good at that. And yes, it was a gold eyed black cat that I built it around. (His name is Bennie… he’s a stray like me… we’re really good friends… I think we use to be hobos together in another lifetime)
I’m so sorry and saddened that you have had to experience the darkness so personally. No one should have to go through such things. It scars our souls and we spend far too long attempting to heal what should have never happened in the first place. Often it does indeed leave us trapped in the middle and sometimes our insanity is truly what appears to be the most beautiful. But it always is a part of what has made us who we are in this moment of time. It becomes a part of us and hopefully we have learned from our experiences and can use that information to help others as well as ourselves.
Here I go getting all wordy again, so I’ll just tell you thank you with all my heart for the prayers and the sunset… I will linger in the light of them both…
Hope your evening is filled with happy moments…
      Michael

      • OH yay Hey! It’s quiet here on my WP so this was such a nice surprise when I logged on tonight! I’ve been out shooting the moon. I was walking my dog and saw the coolest crescent moon and the sky was turquoise and faded into this peach color! It was too hot to be walking so I stood in my yard and enjoyed the view!
I love strays. Don’t you think it’s part of that gypsy soul? I do. They are hard to hold but when you do you never forget it! I don’t know why I said that but I’m leaving it. One day you’ll have to share what the 33 stands for. I see glimpses of it throughout all your photos I like that! Keeps people guessing and that’s a good thing I think!
I think I’m finished with my insanity. Isn’t that funny? I think maybe so, but if I’m not I’ll be the last to know don’t you think! Ha!
Wordy is a good thing I’m that way myself after a long day! I thought I would be quiet but I’m not! I feel like jabbering but I’m going to hold my words for later! I like to do that because it’s nice to feel the shift take place in your thinking and plus sleeping on things is a good thing to do. I finally let go of what I was clinging to today thanks to your lovely poem. I like to visit when I catch a break just to see what I can see and it is well with my soul! Gosh I sort of feel like singing but I’ll spare you that as well! 😀
I hope the same for your evening Happy restful, peaceful moments!

    • Hi Adam… I feel that it probably resonates within many of us… sadly. Sometimes ignorance is bliss comes to mind. Sometimes we can just hide there from our own realities…
Hope your evening is filled with enchantment…

  2. Not sure how one defines ‘insanity,’ save society’s definition of it. We are all complex and all possess shadowy elements, whether we care to acknowledge these or not. Happy you do. It’s the only way to truly evolve, I think. And it makes those who dare to delve into far more interesting people. Aloha.

    • I think that there is no definition of insanity. We all have our moments, perhaps wrapped within our own definitions of insanity, attempting to deal with the shadows. I think what may define it is the ability to face reality, once the shadows fade into the light.
      And aloha to you also…
      Thank you…

    • I see your sense of humor is shining brightly, Tina… Stuck in the middle between the one who has voices in his head and the one with the creatures? A girl in search of true enlightenment…
Now… let’s discussed that new gravatar pic… Most entertaining. I suppose that I should refrain from pursuing the circumstances in which it was taken. But, whatever the wonderfully intriguing story that might accompany it… let me just say… enchantingly adorable… or perhaps… lathering inclinations…
Or perhaps… well…. perhaps I should… perhaps I should just not pursue any more of my perhaps…
      Hope your evening is bubble-icious…

    • Hi Sibella… So glad you dropped by and enjoyed this… I lingered again on your site this morning, still in awe of many of your posts and your words. Loved your “Do You Believe in Magic” post today.
Thank you so much for your beautiful comments…

    • The answer to your question is “Yes”… I have been… What you may find really unusual is that I am in there at this very moment… Can you feel me? Oh… I don’t need a hard hat… I’m very good at wandering around in people’s minds… I’m familiar with their creatures… My night vision has been perfected for wandering through the darkest of corridors… and my head is so hard that I really don’t need a hard hat any way… Did I see a light go on in there???

    • Hi Michael. I hope that you are keeping well. How I wish you would write more often. So it is my turn to linger on your page. While I have commented on this poem before, reading it again, I feel it even more.As you say – we have shadows that prowl our minds and though we may never find someone to tell, I guess in finds its way through in our poetry and dreams.I still love the line I picked up last time – that recognition of beauty in the discovery. Thank you once again. Best. Chevvy
