And Then I Could Fly…
I jumped from the bridge one dark foggy night
Delusions of loons preparing for flight
The river’s allure caressing my soul
With runes on old parchment from unsacred scrolls
The water felt cool ’gainst feverish pain
Bathing the pother that wanders my brain
The current kept pushing me deep in the silt
Keeping me warm in the soft earthly quilt
They gathered around me with eyes of pastel
Beautiful faces to bid me farewell
I reached for the maiden with the kindliest smile
Thinking that maybe we’d chat for a while
But then there were angels
Filling the sky
Lifting me upward…
And then I could fly
I hovered above the tempestuous stream
Reflections of Eden I once saw in dreams
Unusual hues in gardens of light
Entwined in my wings of crystalline white
I saw the reflection… my face in the mist
My curious blues with innocence kissed
Stories untold veiled in runes of the light
Like crimson enkindling the dawn from the night
My life laid before me… my treasons my troth
Wrapped with transcendence in fine sacred cloth
My breath must surrender to cold mortal brew
As wildflowers bend neath pure morning dew
And then there were angels
Filling the sky
Lifting me upward…
And then I could fly
Then I had visions of one maiden fair
An angel’s voice echoed from neath shadows bare
Blue eyes had opened on smooth river stone
My breath in reflection of where I had flown
And then there were angels
Filling the sky
Lifting me upward…
And then I could fly

Thank you Phoebe… Now we both know that tears are never my intention. I have a real problem with tears… happy ‘or’ sad… so just smile… hug Samantha and think only of the …and then I could fly part.
But thank you for the ‘beautiful’ comment…

🙂 i know just “beautiful” doesn’t truly express the power of your creation but I’m a bit poor on expressing emotions 😉

Personally… I think that “beautiful” is a magnificent thing to hear from one who writes so “beautifully”… Beautiful… both honors and humbles me… and I thank you… I have found your emotions to be quite expressive in your writing… and truly grateful that you share them with us…

Wonderful, Michael. Completely wonderful. Your words certainly lift my spirit. Thank you.

Hi Marcus. Thank you so much… but I must try harder to lift your spirits because if I can lift them high enough… then perhaps you “could” fly…

Michael, my friend. I may have misspoken … It is not your responsibility to lift my spirits, that onus is on me. You do well sharing your heart and your spirit. My response then is just that – my response. 🙂 Be proud of the fact your words are uplifting – don’t be weighed down by the weights of others…

Hi Marcus… You ‘doth’ worry too much… Your comment “Oh that I could fly” is priceless… I’d just like to help you get off the ground. I’ll have to send my spirit to yours some morning at 3:33 in the am and take you for a flight… where troubles cease to be and beauty is all around… Yes… I am a bit un-normal… but I’m sure you have realized that already…
Hope your day is filled with beautiful moments…

This verse was so beautiful Michael
“My life laid before me… my treasons my troth
Wrapped with transcendence in fine sacred cloth

One day we shall all learn to fly.. 🙂 I hope the journey is as beautiful Namaste my friend

Thank you Sue. That’s my favorite verse also. It would be beautiful if everyone could fly in that sense… Obviously, you learned long ago and you’re doing such a wonderful job of helping others find their wings…
Hope your evening is filled with transcendent moments.

You are very gifted to be able to create such beauty from pain. Even though your body is weak right now, your spirit is very strong. Transcend is the key-word.

What on my mind? Well blue is on my mind. Lovely blue art and the cleverly placed 33. I thought they were buildings in the distance. I had a sunrise with almost the same color blue clouds we love this blues baby blues. I was drawn in from the start. Beautiful Michael. 🌀

I thought I hid that 33 where it would be really difficult to find. You always find them. Thank you for searching for them. Just a little added entertainment to track them down. I do love blue… my favorite.

This brought tears to my eyes. Michael is both an inspiring writer and human being. In the midst of great tribulation he gives us light. In fact, it seems the darker his world becomes the greater he shines. My heart declares this beautiful yet poignant song his best work. Please visit him with your encouraging words and likes.

Good morning Fonz… I know exactly what you mean on the …”and yes I do want to know…” So many ask but really don’t want to hear reality. So… thank you. I’m doing fairly well on this early Friday morning… yes… the pain is here to great me as always but not too severe. I am anxious to get Friday’s treatment over so I’ll have a couple days reprieve. It’s cold and windy and I don’t get along well with the cold these days but at least I don’t live on the East coast of the US… So I’ll deal with my cold and windy here. And how are you doing today? and yes.. I really want to know…

Michael, man I understand pain and cold don’t go well together and I know only to well what it’s like to have to haul yourself out for treatment. What the treatment you are having. I know how relieved you will be when it’s over today. I look forward to a happy message later, but I am a realist so don’t feel it has to be happy just real. I so hope you join our FB group my friend. Me – I have been writing all morning, I have nerve damage in my feet and hands (hurts like broken glass) so I have been doing that laid on top of the bed. The cleaner is here wife’s in her office, gonna get up now though and make lunch. Hope today goes well my friend. – Fonz

This is beautiful. And really points out, at least to me, just how we choose our ‘reality.’ Always angels, always the depths. Mahalo, Michael!

Hi Bela… Thank you. We do most definitely have a say in our own destiny… but angels help… Google seems to offer a wide variety of meanings for ‘Mahalo’… What is its ‘true’ meaning?

Ah – this is indeed a pleasure to know. I would still love to travel to many places. Apart from seeing beautiful places and experiencing other cultures etc, I think you learn so much about yourself. Since I know that it is not easy for people to travel, I like sharing my experiences and following other travelers. We are all but travelers on this road of life anyway:-)

Are you kidding me… I can’t even compare my mess with crushed arms… I can’t imagine the pain associated with that sort of injury Tina… It sounds to me like they should have done the surgery quickly after it happened… What are they waiting for?

They are testing for various brain or spinal injuries to make sure the surgery won’t kill me. They should have done them when I had the accident but they screwed up. Soooo life goes on. Last test was tonight, I hope…

Well maybe now they will get on with things and take “proper” care of you.
