There was not sleep within the night
Nor rest beyond the vesper’s light
From restless souls in prowling straits
With silver coins the piece of eight
The chastened light through curtain lace
Immuring dawn from love’s embrace
While time had somehow taken blame
When ravens came
and called my name…
The pouring rain on candlewood
With storied rhymes misunderstood
Of sleepless nights the fate unknown
From fervent souls of nary bone
They took me there with shadows bare
With kings and queens in naked stares
Spherical rooms of trinal sight
Where wingless souls transcend in flight
I flew beyond the waiting dawn
Pervading light through curtains drawn
Soared above the mortal death
And felt the touch of angels breath
There was not sleep within the night
Nor rest beyond the vesper’s light
For restless souls that guard the gate
While sleepless souls are tempting fate
Lost beyond my own resolve
While mortal runes no longer solve
A light passed through the window pane
When ravens came
and called my name…

Have a beautiful Sunday dear Michael – Nathalie (a sleepless soul tempting fate)

Hi Nathalie… I don’t believe that I would mind you repeating your wonderful comments over and over to me… They have always brightened my spirit. Yes… I already sensed that you are indeed a restless soul… one who must temp fate… but then… souls like you and I must always tempt fate… or we would never feel complete… besides… sleep is boring… and I am never, ever… bored…
My Sunday began with cool temperatures and a beautiful blue sky… so it can’t be all bad…
Hope yours is filled with blue skies as well…

Thanks for dropping by… Hope it inspired a daydream of your own…

Hello Michael, I hope you are having a good day. For me it’s not far from the witching hour. But not going anywhere before I commend you on your artistry. I felt like I was flying with you in your searching flights throughout the night. I hope my ripples did not impact on you.
Yes, very interesting imagery and symbolism, hope you solved the mysteries. Guess you did because I assume the Raven was a symbol of enlightenment and resolution? Beautiful soulful writing and lovely image as well. Enjoy your day further and (goodnight) from me. Best. Chevvy.

Oh, Chevvy… thank you so very much… I look so forward to your interaction. I shall never solve the mysteries but I shall forever search for enlightenment and resolution. I am so honored that you were flying with me throughout the night, for there is such beauty in the journey with one of such radiance. But I must admit… your ripples did very much impact upon me… within my heart and soul… and they shall linger there always. I hope you enjoy a most peaceful sleep… and dreams far
beyond your imagination… Perhaps I will see you there…
Goodnight, Chevvy

Oh, AmyRose… How am I ever to respond to such a kind and generous comment. Such beautiful words from one of such enlightenment and artistry, humbles me greatly. If I may take such liberty as to borrow your own words… You have helped me to find “… my inner child among the flowers”… and I thank you…

Dearest One, I am so moved right now it is my turn to say to you, I do not know what to say. I’ve had such an incredibly difficult phase of my Life unfolding and at the same time dealing with family whose ears are deaf and eyes are blind. To know I touch others as you have described, puts tears in my eyes and brings such a glow to my weary Heart. Bless you with all I am. Bless you, Michael, for saying words that assist me to pick myself up and move forward. So Much Love and Appreciation, AmyRose ❤

I’m leaving two comments today, Michael. First, there seems to be a glitch in the comment return notices on my blog. I want you to know I responded to your wonderful comment with these words:
Hi, Michael. Good to see you. I’m happy you enjoyed your time here. Most of what I write is fictional, but this format gives me a few places to get more personal with my own thoughts and feelings.
I like most music but when a song inspires my writing, It’s nice to be able to find it again easily. Thank you for stopping by and your lovely comment. Have a wonderful morning. Drink a cup of coffee for me 🙂

This is a very tricky question, Laine. My health can change so very quickly. I must admit that I have struggled as of late and actually that is part of the inspiration of the raven poem. When a group of ravens gathered near to me… chattering all kinds of words and phrases… I must admit… I was a bit concerned, considering my state of being in that moment. As it turned out, like the poem says… “I became lost beyond my own resolve, while mortal runes no longer solve”… and I had quite a pleasant visit with the lovely creatures. Though perhaps they were much wiser than I… for they all seemed to follow the conversation with complete understanding. My will is strong and my tenacious curiosity for love and life are immortal… So I know that I will win many of the battles that come my way. The kind and caring people that choose to interact with me along my path have added so very much to the strength within me… and I thank you so very much for being such an important part of that.
Hope your evening is filled with beautiful moments… and perhaps a chattering raven…

Lol – my dreams are filled with crazy things. Why not chattering ravens? After I read the poem, it left me with a feeling of concern. I’ve learned to trust my intuition so I asked. Thanks for your reply. Enjoy another cup of coffee. Cheers!

I really like all the thoughts you have woven into spoken words
do you ever think you can hear the person saying their words as you listen in between?
if I were to choose a verse that made me pause and think beyond… the one above would be it…
feels like you have wandered on the otherside where Ravens have messages to share
one can feel the breathe of angels here
repetitive I know…but I really like this
you have a wonderful gift, Thank you for sharing you and your thoughts

Good evening Maryrose…
I’m so glad you dropped by and enjoyed the ravens… and yes, I have wandered on the other side where ravens and many others have messages to share. My first time to wander there was not under the best of circumstances, but since that first time, I have been gifted with the opportunity to visit there from time to time. If I can find the silence and the stillness… I can indeed hear their voices. (Or perhaps… I’m just a little nuts)… I must admit though, I have been fortunate enough to feel the breath of Angels on both sides.
I am quite honored and humbled by your most generous words and I thank you so very much. You have brightened my evening tremendously…
I hope your evening is most beautiful and thank you for helping make me feel that I matter…

Thank you so much Sue. You know that I am always honored by your wonderful and inspiring comments. Coming from one of such enlightened artistry, I can’t help but be greatly humbled. I am hoping to spend a good portion of this weekend catching up on all that I have missed this week as well. I’ve been slowed down a little… unwillingly… but I’m hopeful for a bright and beautiful dawn this morning. Hope your weekend is filled with beautiful dawns as well…

Sigh. <=== contentment. I don't know if it's the pulse of a kindred spirit or mastery of words that connects so strongly, but I've decided it doesn't matter. Your work inspires and reaches to others. I see that in the comments others leave, so I know I'm not the only one. It's as if reading your art centers me … or gives me concepts I can center on … I can't say it well – so I'll just say thanks. Great work, here.

Wow, Marcus… I think you have left me with a loss of words and that indeed is a rare moment… at least in the world of black and white. I’m sure the kindred spirit thought does have something to do with it all, but you are exactly right… it doesn’t matter the reasons why… If our writing inspires another, then the love we long so very much to share with others, has not gone unnoticed…. and that is why we write.
I am very fortunate to have some very enlightening readers who often share their love and light with me through their comments, which always inspires me to continue sharing my heart and soul with them. I have discovered many beautiful human beings since coming to wordpress and I thank you for being one of them…
Hope your day is filled with healing, hope, and love…

I can come back to this piece time after time and each visit get the same incredible feeling of completeness. It’s almost scary — looking for the light to pass through the window pane. I may sound like a broken record – but thank you for this post.

Good morning Dara,
Thank you so very much. My old soul probably belongs back there with those early romantics. Sometimes I think I can hear their voices in the breeze… Sometimes I think I’m nuts… but of course, both of those possibilities make writing more fun…
Hope your Friday is filled with beautiful inspirations…
